Episode is up:

http://brilliantgameologists.com/blog/73

This Very Special Episode is a collaboration between:

The Brilliant Gameologists
Adam/David and Luke of The Podge Cast (http://podgecast.com/)
Rob of Accidental Survivors (http://accidentalsurvivors.libsyn.com/)
Rob of The Bear Swarm (http://www.bearswarm.com/)

With their powers combined, this group is The Bad Boys of Podcasting!

The group's first project is here and it tackles a very important issue that we've all been affected by:

Josh is an asshole.

(I was going to wait for Meg to post this but I had to comment on it. Sorry.)

This may be the greatest thing ever recorded.

Big Grin Glad you enjoyed it.  The group is a great bunch and I recommend everyone check out their podcasts if you aren't already.  We have plans to continue helping the pods in podville, so stay tuned.

I feel the need to point out that 1) we were on skype, so in addition to sound quality being sucky, it's tough to interact with people, especially those you've never met.  And 2) this was unscripted so don't judge the jokes too critically.

Why would you want to change Josh? He uses his powers for Awesome! His being an asshole shows that he cares!

I for one am glad you did this intervention.

Josh once confronted me in a bar in New York and rubbed my bald head.
And yelled in my face telling me he was SAMUEL L. JACKSON JUNYAAR!!( precisely in that tone if however grammatically incorrect.)
Then he proceeded to take out of his coat a 16 oz fluid oz bottle of his own semen and told me it was a hair growth product.

And then..then he told me..I am sorry it still gives me nightmares...to touch his purple hate sausage. And the  ball goblins hiding in the forest beneath.

Josh, for the record with this forum as my witness I will not touch your purple hate sausage.

God bless you guys for this intervention. May you all have kittens that spin balls of yarn into gold. Big Grin

I'll give this another try later. Something about the recording, I think, messed with all the comic timing, maybe? I just found the opening and the melodrama to be a real put-off. Like there was this ... contrived pause between everything.

It's part of recording over skype. I'm sure if we used skype it more often we'd develop a feel for it.

*nods* Do you think it might be a good practice to get into? I know that communicating over Vent and Skype has made me much more sensitive to crosstalking and the pause and pace of my words.

I think it would be beneficial. Part of the problem is the BG's familiarrity with one antoher. We are used to people we know really well.

I quite liked it. For an unscripted episode, the timing seemed to work well.

I'd have to respectfully disagree with Talen...about the pausing.

Okay, now I'm 15 minutes into this thing.  This is the most masturbatory thing I've ever had the disgrace to listen to on a podcast. The humour is the kind of back-slapping self-congratulation that wraps the same half a joke around OH HAY I MET THAT GAI AT GENCON. Here I was thinking there might be something substantive. I know that was a stupid assumption, since it's a humour thing, but good god... couldn't you at least pepper more and different jokes in? I ... I dunno. It felt like sitting on a bus on the way to a convention, with three geeks behind me who would not stop quoting Monty Python and The Holy Grail like it made them comic geniuses. And you spent... what, half an hour doing this? Plus editing time? Couldn't you have doled this out in like, thirty seconds? "Josh is a dick, here's our favourite podcasts?" I mean, you covered that in the birthday episode and you didn't have to edit that.

Bonus, I mean, christ, the Bad Boys Of Podcasting? You know when someone calls themself a Bad Boy they're basically calling themselves a Cool Kid, which is another way of saying they're a wanker.

Because I post when I'm effectively experiencing the male equivalent of a literally sandy vagina, half-awake and swollen with rage?

Don't get me wrong, I back my criticism of the episode, but I could have just phrased it in a way that was more useful. Like, not posting it at all, because let's face it, who gives a rat's arse about what I say? I could have left it with 'I didn't like this.' and moved on.
