Week 1: The First Days of the Rest of Your Life

Welcome to Comix City. You all have just recent joined The Epic Society, an association in charge of all heroic and villainous interactions. Having gotten through the paperwork, you have been thrown together as, until a name is chosen, The Unspecified!

You are now in your headquarters, a small underground six room complex beneath an apartment building. You are currently deciding over how the setup should look.

There are advantages to being super-fast.  Copycat promptly lays claim to the biggest closet as storage space for her costumes--of which there are many--and her other clothes--of which there are even more.

That done, she looks around the group's new "headquarters" criticially.  "Hrmph.  A little cramped.  Oh, well, we'll have to make do for now."  She strolls through the rooms, musing to herself.  "We'll need a lab, of course...and a gym, got to keep in shape..."

[Tshern]

"Yes, a gym! And a planning room, warehouse and sleeping quarters! Perhaps I can look into those."

After walking around the room for a second pondering how to get all the necessary equipment before she stops realizing something and turns to face Copycat: "I am Dala. You are Copycat, yes?"

Amazing resources, perhaps I can muster some gym equipment.

The cat-woman nods and smiles.  The smile would be a bit disconcerting to a normal human--it's friendly enough, but full of sharp fangs, and backed up by luminous green cat-eyes that study Dala curiously.  Of course, Dala isn't a normal human.

"Yes, that's right.  Just "Cat" is fine, though.  It's nice to meet you.  I'm afraid I haven't had a chance to sit down and read up on the other members of the team yet; we really should sit down and discuss what each of us can do.  That should help us develop team strategies."  Of course, it'll also give Cat an idea of what powers she might be able to duplicate, but why spoil a perfectly practical suggestion by pointing out the selfish motives attached to it?

Tshern, with Amazing resources, you could buy Gold's Gyms--the entire franchise.  You're as rich as Tony Stark.  Also, out of curiosity, is Dala male or female?  Your character sheet uses both male and female pronouns in different places.  Of course, being an alien, I suppose the answer could be "both"...

[Tshern]

"Yes, we should discuss our strengths. Let's wait for the others, I will make a phone call meanwhile to see if I can get us some equipment."

Does it? Heck, I wrote it in like six or seven parts, I blame that. Anyway, she is supposed to be a female. I'll fix the story as soon as possible, thanks for pointing that to me. Actually, I already fixed it, I think.

DM: Acquiring stuff?

"Cat, I have some money I could use for our projects... Anything special you need?

OOC: Gym equipment (I am not expert here, but all the basic stuff, perhaps two of the most common things), a few computers so we can do all fancy presentations regarding our foes (3D projectors!) and some beds, a TV and stuff that we need for living. Coke and pizza, that is, huh?

I'm not sure how Tracy's guns are going to work. I'd like him to have a pair of high caliber revolvers in addition to a long-range hunting or sniper rifle. But I wasn't able to find rules on weapons like this. I only found the one small table in the Basic Game, but that wasn't really what I was looking for...Are there more rules for guns in another source book?

Tracy uses one finger to tip his cowboy hat up in the front, nodding toward the cute purple skinned chick. That's mighty fine of you, marm. He begins, really laying on his southern drawl, Mah name's Akimbo, Tracy Akimbo. I'm a farm boy, born and raised. I guess my special skills would be my guns, you get to be a pretty fine shoot when you gotta protect your cattle from mangy wolves and such like. Tracy has, in fact, never seen any cattle, and he isn't exactly sure what they are. However, he's not about to go and tell the truth to a bunch of strangers for no reason.

Not particularly perturbed by the lack of furniture, 'Cat lounges with that peculiar boneless grace only cats seem to possess.  She watches her new teammates curiously, content to listen for now.

You can find a good list of weapons in Weapons Locker, and there's a more extensive list than the one you have in the Advanced Players' Book.  Heroes' weapons are usually unique, and essentially treated as a power.  Check out Nick Fury, in the Campaign Book, for a good example.

Your "Shooting things hella good" power counts as a ranged attack with your guns.

So, I can flavorize those weapons as I see fit, or do I need to quantify what kind of guns I'm shooting hella good.

There is a couch and some cots, but that is the only thing in the base for now.

Just to put things in perspective, Remarkable damage is about equivalent to a heavy machinegun, so those are some nasty sidearms yer packin'.

Yeah. I'm thinking the revolvers are fifty caliber tungsten bullets, as a tribute to Elfin Lied... Will post Tracy singing their praises later tonight/earlier tomorrow.

In fact, check these bad boys out. Tracy pulls his brown duster open to reveal a pair of huge six (well, seven, but who's counting?) shooters. He pulls one out and twirls it on his finger. Fifty caliber, and they fire tungsten bullets. I've seen extremely competent Kineticists dropped at ten meters by one of these. Too much momentum for them to stop. Tracy gazes at his gun with more attention than he was paying to the cute purple skinned alien a moment ago. I guess not many men can handle the recoil, digging rows for planting all day'll strengthen a man's wrists, though... Tracy holsters his gun and looks around at the other two. So, what can y'all do?

[Caelic]

Copycat's lips quirk up at the question.  "Well, that depends," she murmurs.  "Apart from the obvious, anyway: I'm quick and nimble.  Beyond that...well, I think I'll let Dala demonstrate her abilities first."

[Tshern]

Dala ends her phone call smiling to everyone and almost jumping around in joy, which seems to be her perpetual state: "I got us some furniture, hope you like them! And I... I can communicate telepathically and fly an aircraft well. I have trained a little hand to hand combat disciplines native to my planet, they work well with metal manipulation, all of us can do that a bit..."

[Caelic]

'Cat nods.  "It's easier to show what I can do than explain it.  Dala, could you show us how you manipulate metal?"

[Tshern]

Dala starts juggling three empty soda cans in the air with her powers and then places them neatly on the table and simultaneously pops one of the cans open without any physical gestures. "Things like that, with more power when necessary..."

[Caelic]

'Cat nods.  She walks over to the remaining cans and lightly brushes her fingers over them, curiously.  Her eyes seem to...flicker for a moment.  "Oh.  So THAT'S how you do it."

She gestures...and the cans rise back into the air.  "I live up to my name.  I can temporarily duplicate the powers of others."  She sets the cans down.  "Which is a big part of why I'm here; I have a lot more to offer as part of a team than I do on my own."
