Well I'm likely going to invest in a raptor arrow now that I've been talked into it, and I had planned on keeping a bow just in case, so that gives me enough ranged power, I think.

Yes, the destruction thing applies to magic ammo.

Ouch.  That kinda sucks.

It says that when a drunken master rolls a natural 1 on an attack roll with an improvised weapon, that weapon breaks apart and becomes useless. Don't take drunken master levels, don't break the arrow.

So it's either a -4 on your attack rolls or a 5% chance of destroying your weapon

This is where a heavily optimized Truenamer would come in handy. They have an Utterance that restores broken magic items to functional use. It could be possible to get a cheap, reusable magic item that duplicates that Utterance. Don't ask me to price it though, as I fail at math.

Raptor arrows seem unnecessary given the concept, but I'd maybe try actually firing some if I could upgrade them.

Unnecessary, but awesome. One arrow ends up covering all your bases for bane. Leaves a lot of room for other arrows. Shadowstriking (for lycans/golems/DR anything) covers some more bases. Probably not a bad idea to TWF if possible.
