Oh, I'm happy about the denegetivization initiative as well, I just didn't want to come off like I was piling on.

I like to think of it as adding positivity. I think when you try to remove something from a creative project it is easy to ruin the project. Instead we are trying to focus more on other elements.

Honestly, I think denegativization is an unimprovement. Negativity sells. People may complain, but subconsciously they enjoy it

I didn't mind the DBotW, but I can't say that I miss it either.

I do know that sometimes you just have to bitch about something...perhaps keep the idea of the segment, but space out it's usage more 'Douchebag of the Month' or Douchebag Quarterly.

Or even try focusing/improving it. Like make DBotM focus on a certain DB gaming type and what/how you can approach/fix the issue. Like a mini-help series.

What's was the name of the Boston-area con they talked about?
Something that Google's spelling correction wasn't able to help, that's all I know.

Just to chip in, I think the departure of the DBotW segment is a good move. First and foremost, it was too easy to see the segment as taking pot-shots onto the boards. Even when it wasn't - editing times aside - it was just too easy for me to draw parallels between what was going on on the boards and the current DBotW. Second, that kind of fun lexicon-building is probably better reserved for maybe blog entries. Making it a fixture of the show draws the segment forward and makes it seem more of a big deal. Tertiary to that, I mean, how fun can it really be to make fun of wankers for being wankers? And douchebaggery isn't a fundamental state of being, it's an attitude, and a temporal one. A guy who's being a douchebag can go home and happily go about the process of being normal to all his friends and family. He's not endemically douchey.

Or maybe I'm just optimistic.

DBotW was intended as a sort of "don't be that guy" sort of thing. When we saw that it was not ilustrating and offering suggestions, we canned it.
