So long before the podcast, each year after Thanksgiving I would rate and categorize the Christmas commercials.  Eventually I started choosing the best and worst and announcing my findings to my friends. This has culminated in my annual Christmas Commercial Awards

Categories include:

Most Manipulative Jewelry Commercial

Most Implausible Use of Luxury Car as Gift

Fattest Santa

Most Exploitative Portrayal of ELf by Little Person

Biggest Stretch ( we wish you a happy fridge day so go out and buy paint)

and the Holy Grail: Best Commercial

an early front runner for Best Commercial

Special mention should be made that if you're getting someone a leased car, you are in fact not actually giving them a present.

yes, not just U.S. commercials either. Anything which folks can view via a link. You can also suggest categories.

Not sure where this one would fall...possibly Biggest Stretch...

Quote
In Washington, D.C., the American Humanist Association began a bus ad campaign this month questioning belief in God. "Why believe in a God?" the advertisement asks. "Just be good for goodness sake."

Hint: You have to sing the last part to the tune of Santa Claus is Coming to Town.

Try being forced to at least hear them every 15 minutes for an eight hour stretch 5 times a week.
