while that is true, the ramones are somewhat simplistic. There's also the MC5 to consider when debating the roots of pucnk, as well as the new york dolls and television.
The Ramones... The Clash, Sex Pistols and Dead Kennedys are better.

Your point? Ramones would've never played if not for Muddy Waters and so forth. Also, Sex Pistols sort of evolved from the Strand, in which both Cook and Matlock played already in early 1974, the year the Ramones was founded...

The Ramones have as many popular ALBUMS as any of those other three have popular SONGS even combined!
None of the other three even has a single album that I don't feel like skipping through at least one or two tracks. Ramones? I can listen to a good half of their albums and enjoying every song.
