This is the first of three installments of an article entitled The Horrible Radius, by Judgingeagle. Like any good essay, this introductory portion lets us know what we will be reading about. It also humorously looks at the role of the "simple character" and the pitfalls related to that experience.

As someone who teaches the three part essay frquently, I found it relatively self contained and concise.
