Going straight against my own advice, I think I have enough rope Wink Or rather, my 50 feet silk rope will have do to, encumbrance is a bitch...

Pack it onto Ira - she's got 35.5 lbs. to go until she's encumbered. Not to mention Ira's also got 50'.

The three heroes gathered their gear, slung backpacks upon their shoulders, and marched from amongst the farms and cattle of their people towards a search for knowledge and the chance to save their land. Armoured against the cold, they struggled and strove for many weeks in the direction indicated, passing amongst rocks and mountains, over precipitous ledges, through chasms riven by ancient rivers, and even through a cave of glistening teeth. They had braved blizzards and storms, wind and stone, and stood perhaps a few valleys and peaks away from their goal when they heard a roar from the mountain above. A massive furry thing prowled the slope above them, teeth drawn back in a feral grin.

The trip had been quite the experience for Ira. Despite the the protective draconic magic of Caden and the layer of clothing underneath Ira's glamered chainshirt (which looked like her usual black fullplate), she still managed to shiver from the cold. While she came prepared for the worst, she quickly noticed that the mountains were nothing like the streets of Yn adeinio Dref. Fortunately, the cold had also kept her awake and more importantly alert, as the growls of the creature prompted her to react, adrenaline rushing through her veins.

Her eyes shift to the creature, faster than it can react. The mask that she wears isolates the cold stare, and its effects could very well be apparent soon.

Init + Ferocity (1d20+5=15), -2 if the enemy isn't 30' away from us (init 13 in that case). I won't be activating Ferocity (immediate action) unless if I'm 30' away from the enemy (to intimidate). Perhaps information on how far away the enemy is would help.

If it's 30' away or less, Ferocity kicks in prior to Init and Intimidating Ferocity demoralize (1d20+15=24). And of course, turn 1/6 of Ferocity.

Big ugly is ~60ft. away, up-slope of you three. It's hulking at the shoulders and haunches, very heavily built, with thick matted fur dark with stains and earth. A slavering jaw hinges open, showing rows and rows of teeth. The breath steams in the dim air, and the snow under its feet is damp and wet.

Fair enough. Since I got highest Initiative, I'll start it off, though Initiative is at 13. Here's my action, assuming I can charge (aka, the snow isn't difficult terrain, nor is the slope, and that I have my sword drawn/can draw in the move part of the charge).

Eyeing the enemy had offset the enemy's reaction, and Ira was going to savor this advantage. Without much regard to the identity of the creature nor the area around her, she sped towards the enemy, sword drawn, and upon the approach she grasped the blade in both hands, swiping at the monster, digging her sword into its gut and flaying its innards, regardless of whether or not it tried to swipe at her. Satisfied with the rather bloody hit, she pulled her blade out of the monster's gut and pointed it at its eyes, making it regret it had even shown itself.

Lots of rolls. Power Attack for 1, 2h atk. (1d20+8=27, 1d10+6=8) So, confirming crit and damage: Crit confirmation, damage if crit, first dmg value is if power attack is not multiplied (1d20+8=24, 2d10+8+2=18, 2d10+12=21)...

I'm pretty confident those hit. I'd be pretty surprised if a 24 doesn't hit the enemy, but regardless the Will DCs for my fear effects are 17 for Awesome Beauty (henceforth called Fear Aura, also is a free action to turn on - this effect will require another Will DC so long as the monster is within 30' even upon a failure), 15 for Dreadful Wrath (free action when I charge, full attack (pounce), or cast a spell), and Intimidate (1d20+15=25) vs its opposed level check.

So, in summary: Good rolls in general (18 damage if power attack is not multiplied, otherwise 21 damage) and the monster needs to make Will saves vs DC 15 and DC 17 as well as an opposed level check vs 25 (in that order). Each one increments the monster one step down the fear ladder, so if all goes well it's Panicked. And I'm in Ferocity, so +4 Str, +4 Dex, -2 to Ranged Attacks out of 30'.

If I can't charge for some odd reason, I'll move up 40' (or equivalent) and if I'm within 20' I'll activate both Fear Aura and Ferocity, so DC 17 and 25 on intimidate. And then Total Defense.

Turn 1/6 of Ferocity.

Canere unslings his harp and begins plucking a battle song, inspiring his allies.
Stab, stab, stab the hairy monster!
Inspiring Courage, +1 morale on saves vs fear and charm, and on to hit and damage rolls.

Ye be an ugly pup

Raising his shield. Caden advance forward and lets loose a burst of flames towards the creature.

Move 30 feet. Breat Weapon 30 feet line, Entagling Exhalation, Damage 12 (3+4+5) and duration 4 rounds.

DC:21 reflex against beeing affected by EE and halves the damage to 6.

Quote from: PHB
An entangled creature moves at half speed, cannot run or charge, and takes a –2
penalty on attack rolls and a –4 penalty to its effective Dexterity score.

I can't determine wether or not to add some description to EE's effect due to that I don't know the result of the ref. save.
Neither am I sure that you wish me to post this now, before the creature acts. If you do wish me to post in intiative order, just declare the beasts actions and I'll modify this accordingly.

Combat Round #1
Eyeing the enemy had offset the enemy's reaction, and Ira was going to savor this advantage. Without much regard to the identity of the creature nor the area around her, she sped towards the enemy, sword drawn, and upon the approach she grasped the blade in both hands, swiping at the monster, digging her sword into its gut and flaying its innards, regardless of whether or not it tried to swipe at her. Satisfied with the rather bloody hit, she pulled her blade out of the monster's gut and pointed it at its eyes, making it regret it had even shown itself.

The monster glares back and howls, eyes flaring as it slides out of her range, the elegant dodge of her sweeping counter denoting intelligence behind the feral casing. Mouth opening wide, it bucks up high on two hind legs, breathing in deeply, the very air screeching as it disappears into the cavernous chest. Thumping back down to the ground, the beast transfers all that energy to the chest, explosively expelling the chill air in a wave of frozen ice and grasping tendrils of cold, bathing Ira in a deep and chill swarm, momentarily blinding her in the frozen tongue of air.

Canere gasps at the breath, quickly pulling the harp from his back and plucking the chords, letting the magic in his soul flow out into the words and the notes of the song, enhancing and charming his allies.

Caden skirts to the side, moving such that Ira will not be affected by his impending breath. Raising his shield, he runs up the mountain, watching for any hint of a charge from the giant beast. Satisfied that he is safe from attack, Caden lowers his shield and raises his head, filling his mouth with a burning, fiery liquid, expelling it in a great flame, bathing his foe in a roasting tongue.

Sorry about the slow posting, been busier than I would like. There's no need to post in init order, I just sort them appropriately at the end of the round, and allow people to modify if it seems necessary.
Initiative Order:
  • 15 - Rufei
  • 9 - Creature
  • 6 - TWS
  • 5 - Shadow

Results:
  • Rufei - You miss badly.
  • Creature
  • 5 ft. step backwards.
  • Cold Breath: 4d6 Cold, DC 16 Fort for half. Failed save is slowed for 1 round. Only Ira is hit.
  • Canere
  • Action: Sing like Elan. Inspire Courage.
  • Caden
  • Move 30 ft.
  • Fire Breath Save: 1d20+6=19.
  • Damage: 18 (Fire Weakness).

While continuing to play his harp with one hand, Canere reaches into the pouch at his side and draws out a square of butter wrapped in paper.
The earth betrays you.
Just try to remain standing.
I bet you'll fall down.

The ground beneath the monster's feet becomes slippery and difficult to stand upon.
Casts Grease on the monster. Exact placement will vary based on what happens first, but he'll be avoiding Ira/Caden...

Rufei - You miss badly.

And so our bardic song became "Run, run, run for your lives!" Big Grin

Still, the 2 20s are absurd. Wasn't quite expecting that.

The blast of cold was something Ira wasn't quite expecting, but it was something she was prepared to deal with. Ducking down, she let the cold mix with the blast of fire from Caden, letting some of the ice shed off of her cloak. Grateful for the assistance (and warmth!), she pressed the advantage, striking the beast again, unphased by its resilience towards fear.

Fort Save (1d20+7=26), so half damage. I'll roll for the half damage, seeing as it doesn't quite matter either way and this way Strat won't have to repost: Creature Breath (2d6=5), got the save so no slowed. Ira 5' steps forward and power attacks for 1: Attack, PA 1 (1d20+8=18). If it hits (that's the gray area in terms of hit vs ACs Sad): 1d10+8=11.

In summary: Saved, took 5 damage, Ira 5's and "full" attacks, PA 1, hits with 18, 11 damage if hits. Monster makes DC 17 will save else duration of fear goes back to a minute.

EDIT: Forgot about the inspiration. 19 to hit and 12 damage if it's a hit.

EDIT2: Turn 2/6 of Ferocity. Only 4 more turns until suckage!

Seeing the fire engulfing the creature, spreading out and restricting it's movement, Caden inhales yet again.
This time, he changes his burst, focusing more on pure heat than complex meshing.

Pure Breath Weapon, damage 11 (3+2+6) and 6 due to EE's duration.
Same DC to half 11 to 6, EE's damage are automatic.
Rember that it now that it has -4 Dex, so -2 to ref. Big Grin

http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/1839914/

And if the situation demands it, I could hose down my companions aswell, as they're immune to my breath weapon whilst under Endure Exposure (which I cast at the start of each day).

The monster howls in pain, shying away from Ira and then bursting up the slope, moving at a lightning pace to scramble away from the vicious clubbing it has endured. Its paws toss snow into the air as it speeds across the land, snow churning with each stride.

Damage from Round #1: Creature 31, Ira 5.

Shadow, you'll want to redo actions

Initiative Order:
  • 15 - Rufei - Attack hits. 12 damage.
  • 9 - Creature - Withdraw. 100 ft. away. Save vs Fear: url=http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/1840184/]1d20+3=20[/url]. Success. 9 Damage from EE.
  • 6 - TWS - Magic Missile for 8.
  • 5 - Shadow - Re-do action please.

Strat, I think it's 12 damage. I forgot to incorporate the Inspire Courage the first time I calculated damage. Of course, unless if it has DR 1 or something like that.

And it has to make the save again... it ticks on my turn to re-extend the duration back to a minute.
