Ira gave a quick nod, giving the Aasimar a swift glance, before walking to the door leading downstairs. She stopped briefly, pausing for Caden, before her descent down the stairs in darkness, hand grazing the wall for guidance.

The chamber is old and dark and dank, and disappears back into the great distance. The floors cants at odd angles, the stone broken upwards by the force of impact with the ground. Columns lie upon the ground, and the sound of dripping echoes. The room is cold, and a breeze passes by, bringing with it the hint of the outside chill. At one end, a raised dais holds a chair of wood and gold, broken and corroded on the floor. It is a desolate place, and one with a sullen, sad air.

Going through the hall, Caden stops to pick up a peice of the golden chair. Moving the piece of wood between his fingers, he thinks out loud. "This could be the great hall", he makes a sweeping motion, "and this would then be the throne on which the ruler would sit. In more that one way, the old saying applies here. Oh how the mighty have fallen"He takes in the scenery. I sure as hell wouldn't want to have been here when this came crashing down."Ira, you've been with the Hanians longer than me. D'ye remember if the magic that should have kept this place afloat where located anywhere special? Like, I don't kown, some huge crystal in the basement? Or is it spread out? I'm a bit rusty on Hanian lore and Canere's busy with them scrolls."Caden then looks for any other exits or entrances to the mess hall, except the one he came from, including any holes in the floor that may lead downwards. |

There are many exits from the grand hall, most being into siderooms and corridors that spread out from this place, the central nexus of the city. The largest of these are the grand ceremonial doors, situated opposite the throne.

Canere stares at the scrolls, barely minutes after he began he was stumped and unable to continue. Bah! He mutters, as he stands and dashes out the door and down the stairs. Can't let them have all the fun. The scrolls will be there when I return.

Furrowing his brows, Caden listens. "No, but ever since that bugbear hit me over the head with the barstool, my hearing has been comming and going. So you might be right" He makes his way over to an exit, looking what lays ahead. Staring down a corridor without anything catching his interest, he turns and walk back to Ira.
"But this just ain't the weather for drippin'. A wee bit to cold."

The dripping is clear to Canere's ear amidst the quiet of the cold, and appears to come from a corridor down beyond the throne room. Perhaps it leads back into more mage's corridors, or perhaps not. It certainly seems to be the source of the echoes.

The corridor is short and narrow, and opens out into what appears to have been a meeting room of some sort. However, the ceiling has been broken in, and masonry blocks lie tumbled about and scattered. The roof is now a mass of ice, the snow pressing down from above, slowly grinding down the walls of this room. The floor is ice, covered in the drippings from the snow above, for still working are a few magical lamps, and they light this desolation from holes they have melted within the oncoming snow.

Ira's eyes were upon the ice ceiling, but when she heard Canere's remark, she found herself in agreement. Keeping her footing solid, she made her way across the room, giving it a look over, finding nothing of interest. |

The bracket is bolted into the wall and has no proper handle, but with an effort of prying and wrenching, Caden manages to break the bolts holding the torch. However, it is hot to the touch and will need a grip to bring with him, less he want scorched fingers.
