It IS called Race for the Galaxy, after all Smile

But seriously a strong military tableau is hard to stop.  Especially if they get Improved Logistics.

This game rocks.  The more I have played it the more I like it.

Looks crazy confusing and a bit intimidating when you first bust open the box but it plays great and is really easy to learn.

I know that for a least a portion of my gaming group this has become our newest favorite game.

Each expansion seems to have just made it better and better and I am amazed at the forethought that went into the prepping earlier releases for future expansions.

This is definitely my favorite game right now.  A friend of mine introduced me to this game a few weeks back.  It is so awesome, I went out and bought the base game and both expansions.

We play with both expansions with takeovers toggled off.  The 2nd expansion changes the startup and let's you plan somewhat the direction you take by chosing a blue or red starting world, discard down to 4 cards after you see what the Bonus tiles are going to be.

My highest score so far... 83 VP.  Woot!  Used a Trade / 2 x VP strategy that just raked in the VPs.

Any other strategies out there that can score that high?

New Galactic Order + Hidden Fortress + Rebel Alliance can get pretty silly.  I think I hit 89 that way.

Tom Lehmann is going to be @ GameStorm (a convention near Portland, OR) to unveil his latest project - hope it's RftG: The Brink of War...

Finally got this and we played our first game. Pretty cool.

The only problem we felt initially was that it doesn't have quite as much inter-player interaction as we would hope. But that may just be from us not being familiar enough with the rules yet. I'm sure there is a lot more interaction than we see, its just in nuanced ways.

There really isn't a lot of direct competition/interaction between players.  It is more a matter of having your strategy and being aware of others strategy so as to maximize your benefit of actions they may take while minimizing their benefit from your actions.
