I'm going to wait to see what happens here before I make a response.

The guard shrugs. I ain't a mage, mate. They don't like whips much though.

Val'Malus shrugs, I ain't either. I'm a necromancer. Slaves respond much more positively once they have been reanimated as a zombie.

Regema heaves a sigh, wondering what the guard might do in response to this.  He has his pet ready itself to pounce from the surrounding woods in case of trouble.

You see, a slave is useless after death unless reanimated. This more than doubles their lifetime use. Of course, a slave is more intelligent than a zombie, so it is best to wait for them to die of natural causes. It is sorta like a cart and repairing a broken one. After it breaks from over use, you can repair it. That reminds me of a story about a magical cart that is said to teleport you anywhere, but feeds on blood. Have you ever heard of the one? Well, it is said... Val'Malus rambles on quite quickly in hopes of making the guards forget what he said.

Staring at Val as if he was a slightly deranged dog, the guard gestures to some others to ready themselves if anything untoward happens. Turning to Regema as, perhaps, the more sane speaker Keep your... peons in line, and then everything will work properly. After all, you are here to negotiate a sale, are you not?

"Indeed we are.  However, something is bothering me as well.  Our negotiator was explicitly instructed to inspect your slaves before discussing any sort of exchange, but nobody has gone in or out of that tent yet." Regema says questioningly, seeming very impatient.

"Military training won't be necessary. I'm worried enough that they know how to use saws, so I'd rather not have them picking up swords or crossbows. Perhaps we should go have a look at the merchandise before we discuss price?"

As you wish. Come, come. The orc leads the way back to the slave pens, pointing first to a larger pen, and then to a smaller. These are the unskilled slaves. Those in the other pen are skilled. We keep them better, of course. Those in this pen are somewhat filthy, and look thin, although not completely malnourished as others might. The skilled workers are healthier still, but kept tightly restrained and with more guards.

The orc looks Madoc up and down, presumably summing the wealth of his clothes into a total. I expect we can sell them to you for 35 a head. If you buy a large lot, the price might come down, though.

Madoc looks slightly unsettled by the figure. "I'm going to have to discuss this with my associates, I'm afraid. It shouldn't take too long, but it needs to be done."

The orc bows gracefully to Madoc Please do so. We can provide refreshments if necessary during your deliberations. Waving to a guard, the orc called him over. Set aside a tent for our buyers, if you please.

"I have a price. They've set aside a tent for us to discuss it. Apparently quite a few of the slaves have military training, but they're more expensive, and I don't fancy a rebellion myself."

I'm good at breaking people. Val'Malus grins, a hand engulfed in negative energy. What's the average price?

"We certainly have much to discuss, so let us enter the tent and conclude this business."  Regema heads toward the offered tent and stands at once side of the entry, taking a look around the campsite and assessing the show of arms presented by the slavers.

About how many slavers are there on guard right now?
