The guard growls, his hand going to the hilt of his sword. You would insult us so? He is safe, if he is of honour. You, you I think shall not enter the tent.

Sorry, I'm just a bit paranoid. Last week I was betrayed by some bandits who hired me. Val'Malus explains. I'm sure it's safe, I guess I am just over protective when it comes to harmless situations and under protective in dangerous ones.

Madoc steps forward, his face grim but his walk firm. "I would bargain. May I enter the tent?" He waits for his answer before trying to enter.

"Hmm... I expected something... I don't know... more informal, judging from that act you put on in the tavern today. It's a mildly pleasant surprise to know that we're dealing with professionals." Regema says with a rather expressionless face.

The guard waves at Madoc to step into the tent, letting the cloth drop back down afterwards. Would the rest of you like food or drink? It is basic, but I enjoy it.

I haven't eaten for a week. Yes please. Val'Malus says. Can you tell me how you procure your merchandise? In my experience, debt produces healthier and more willing servants. I prefer undead though, so I may be wrong.

Come, come, have a drink. The guard grabs a tankard and slugs it down in one go. The slaves, they come from here or there. Some debt, some... otherwise.
There are still other guards around, keeping a careful eye on the three who are not engaged in negotiations, despite the friendliness of their one companion.

DO you have much trouble keeping them in check?

Madoc enters, now quite unsure about what he will find inside. Still, he does his best to keep his trepidation out of his face and manner.

Regema doesn't even notice the food or drink, feeling neither need nor desire to consume them. "I'm curious. Maybe we could see the slaves? I'm certain our negotiator will make the same request a bit later on, but for now just sitting around here is a bit less than interesting..." With that, he turns an unnaturally cold stare to the other guards, giving an unspoken warning to mind their own business.

I agree! Val'Malus takes a tankard and chugs it down.

Madoc: The orc gestures at the seat in front of him, although a glance backwards tells Madoc there are two guards inside the tent and behind him, positioned so that he can at best see one of them at a time. Smiling broadly, the orc opens the conversation by offering food and drink, and then asking what services he might provide to this noble merchant.
Regema: The guards return the stare with a flat, hard look of their own. Which of you needs to inspect the merchandise? And is there a certain subset that you are interested in? The guard pulls his sword and begins idly drawing symbols in the ground with the tip.

Borloth sits there quietly watching the guards, his right hand slowly clenching and unclenching.

Since he cannot watch both guards, Madoc tries a gesture of trust and doesn't try to watch either. He takes a little food and drink, but draws on his dark gifts in case there should be anything untoward in them. "Thank you for the hospitality. I'm in need of slaves to work a logging camp. Strong ones who work with little supervision would be ideal, but I'd rather take many that won't run over a few strong ones that will. Ever since that tree hit my arm, I've been no good for catching runaways."Use Chosen of Evil. Prioritise the bonus to any Fortitude saves needed for the food and drink, but if none are needed, use it on the Bluff check I'm about to make. This lowers my base save by 1 for a round, but gives a +3 bonus, for a +2 boost, and a +9 save. 1d20+15=32, +3 if he didn't try to poison/drug me.

Regema turns his eyes to the guard speaking with them in annoyance. These pathetic dredges would know their place in the mines soon enough. "All that's required is that they have two legs and enough fingers to hold a tool. Other defects are unimportant and other 'perks' are not necessary. How many slaves do you have here, anyway?"

MadocGood, good. Now, we can fulfil either need, be it many weak or a few strong. We could even provide some with military training, perhaps. We are an excellent outfit with which to trade, as I am sure you are aware.RegemaThe guard shrugs. As many as you can pay for, and then many more. You certainly couldn't afford them all.
