I think Dragon magazines have several of these running around. I remember seeing a list of alternate Ranger combat styles a while back and there were a lot of them, though I don't remember seeing those particular two...
I know there was a net and trident one named "fisherman" though in a different language.

I know there's another one with Power Attack at its base also, but I don't recall what follows it in the progression.
EDIT: Found it. Crystal Keep, Alternate Classes, Page 100 of the PDF.
BEAR WRESTLING: IUS, Improved Grapple, Stunning Fist MOUNTED COMBAT: Ride-by Attack, Spirited Charge, Trample PISCATOR: EWP(Net), Improved Trip, Improved Critical STRONG-ARM: Power Attack, Improved Sunder, Great Cleave THROWING: Quick Draw, Point Blank Shot, Far Shot
All apparently from Dragon #326.

Strong-arm could be fun as a two-level dip.

My balancing 3.5 compendiumElemental mage test gameQuotesIt is a shame stupidity isn't painful. Totally true. Historians believe that most past civilizations would have endured for centuries longer if they had successfully determined Batman's alignment. Why are so many posts on the board the equivalent of " Dear Dr. Crotch, I keep punching myself in the crotch, and my groin hurts... what should I do? How can I make my groin stop hurting?" I suggest carving "Don't be a dick" into him with a knife. A dull, rusty knife. A dull, rusty, bent, flaming knife. Fluffy: It's over Steve! I've got the high ground! Steve: You underestimate my power! Fluffy: Don't try it, Steve! Steve: *charges* Fluffy: *three critical strikes* Steve: **** I don't even stat out commoners. Commoner = corpse that just isn't a zombie. Yet. When I think "Old Testament Boots of Peace" I think of a paladin curb-stomping an orc and screaming "Your death brings peace to this land!" Buy a small country. Or Pelor. Both are good investments.

For the Mounted one, if you can convince a DM to make animal companions full level for ranger, that would be worthy of some 2 level dippage.
Sorry for the necromancy, couldn't resist.

There was a 3rd party Wilderness book that had several alternate combat styles. I remember there was a power attack themed one, a spear themed one, etc. I'll post them here later.

This is from Legends and Lairs "Wildscape" d20 book. I'll cut through the fluff and just give you the bare-bones mechanics.
Variant Ranger styles:
Two-Handed Fighting: 2nd: Two-Handed Defense: when fighting with a two-handed weapon, the ranger gains a +1 dodge bonus to AC. 6th: Sweeping Attack: gains benefit of Whirlwind Attack feat when fighting with a 2-handed weapon. 11th: Ferocious Blow: A reverse combo of Combat expertise and Power Attack, take a -1 penalty to AC (max -5) to gain +2 damage per -1 to AC.
Explorer: 2nd: Frontiersman: +1 bonus to all saves, also a +4 competence bonus on saves and checks to avoid environmental hazards. 6th: Frontier Emissary: Gain an additional spoken language. Also gain another spoken language at levels 9, 12, 15, and 18. 11th: Alert Fighter: can no longer be flanked (but foes with 4 more rogue levels than his ranger levels still can flank him).
Lorekeeper: 2nd: Master Herbalist: gains Brew Potion feat, as well as the ability to create potions of first level spells (even though he can't cast any yet). Also adds the spells of the Cleric Healing domain to his list (effectively lowering the levels of his cure spells). 6th: Healing Hands: Heal 1d6+Wis mod with a DC 20 heal check. Can be used once per day per patient. Takes 10 mins. 11th: Lore of Beast and Blade: spend a full round action to grant allies +1 competence bonus to attacks and +2 competence bonus to damage rolls against one of his favored enemies for the remainder of the encounter. Useable 3/day.
Outrider: 2nd: Horseman: choose Mounted combat, mounted archery, ride-by attack, spirited charge, or Trample as a bonus feat. Also suffers no penalty for riding w/o a saddle. 6th: Scout: +5 competence bonus to Ride checks. Mount gains +1 comp bonus to attacks, and +2 dodge bonus to AC, and +2 comp bonus to all saves. 11th: Rough Rider: +1 to attacks while mounted. His mount gains a +10 bonus to Jump checks, and movement made while jumping does not provoke AoO's.
Ranger Knight: 2nd: Ranger Squire: When using a sword and shield he gains either a +1 competence bonus to attacks or a +1 dodge bonus to AC (can change each round). 6th: Ranger Knight: +1 dodge bonus to AC when wearing no or light armor. 11th Ranger Lord: gains an additional +2 dodge bonus to AC
Slayer: 2nd: Stalker: gains +1d6 sneak attack 6th: Marauder: +2d6 Sneak attack (total) 11th: Death Dealer: +3d6 Sneak attack (total)
Spear Fighter: 2nd: Agile Spear Fighter: Gain +5ft reach with a non-reach spear. Can attack adjacent foe even if a spear's reach would normally not allow it. 6th: Precise Spear Figher: Ignore the -4 penalty for attacking a creature in melee when utilizing the spear's reach, and ignores any cover short of complete cover. 11th: Redoubtable Spear Fighter: Whenever a foe provokes an AoO due to movement, the Ranger counts as having set his spear against a charge, even if the foe was not charging.
In the same section it has bonuses for each of these styles (and the two from the PHB) in place of spellcasting. They don't start until 12th level though (12, 14, 16, 18).

One I thought might be cool was beast master, which would let your pet be the equivilent of a druid pet, since there is a feat that lets you count as 3 levels higher druid for purposes of animal companion, and fighting style giving 3 feats, you'd really be a druid level -1 properly, but it seemed close enough for me.
