Aralaxax could be recently activated and heading back to investigate what activated the Mysterious Shadow MacGuffin...
And then run into these adventurers and realize that his memory banks suffered a loss and he can't recall what he was supposed to do about the activator of the MSG, so he decided to team up with them.

I could be Grondor's long lost friend/brother/fellow dwarf, following a lead that he was in the desert somewhere, and doing my best to find him. Kinda works considering we're both Badlands Dwarves.
Or I could just fall from a hole in the ceiling in a comic fashion, running from some other horror. Meet up with these guys, and decide we may as well run together.

I rather like the idea of my kobold elementalist having activated Aralaxax after discovering him in some ruin, then subsequently riding him around instead of getting his feet sandy.  Alternatively we can just say that he had been travelling in the desert after his self-motivated exile from his cave. It did not take long to discover that the vast is not easy for a lone kobold to survive in, nor for any creature. Perhaps it was then that Brug happened across him on his way to find his lost kinsman. This one's not as fun as the first, though. |

Can you handle the raw gravitational pull of a full 50-odd pounds (kobold plus equipment)? It does occur to me that despite being a warforged, you're not necessarily strong like a melee character. It also occurs to me that our current party has relatively few melee types. We've only got one person with a strength over 12. >_> ---- Perhaps I only ride you around occasionally, then.  |

You'd push me to a Medium load, so I'll only allow it occasionally. I intend to be on the front line part of the time. Magic Fang and Produce Flame make my fist fairly formidable for a second level character's attack. And it gives me an option for range as well.

Though it would only be for travel, it would hamper your movement quite a bit, so I guess I won't be riding you through the desert (too bad you don't have that easy-traveling bonus to your bone plates >_>). Still, I like the idea of discovering and accidentally activating you due to my excessive curiosity. |
