Bing as the boss and I are comic fans (well comic book movies in his case), I was asked to peek at Super Capers and Special.
Super Capers is one of those films you're going to look at and think "They had a promising cast and a neat premise. Now what the hell happened during filming?"
Train wreck. I'm not sure if it's meant to be for kids, or if it's just meant to be in the original spirit of older comics from long ago, but it's painful to watch.
Special is...different. It's billed and advertised as a wacky comedy where a man in a medical experiment may or may not be developing super powers. It is instead a very dark comedy about a man with some serious problems. I'm not saying its bad, its okay in fact. But don't go into it expecting it to be what it was advertised.

Why are so many posts on the board the equivalent of " Dear Dr. Crotch, I keep punching myself in the crotch, and my groin hurts... what should I do? How can I make my groin stop hurting?" I suggest carving "Don't be a dick" into him with a knife. A dull, rusty knife. A dull, rusty, bent, flaming knife. Fluffy: It's over Steve! I've got the high ground! Buy a small country. Or Pelor. Both are good investments.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1449844/I'm watching Sauna (aka Filth), which is as far as I know the first modern FInnish horror film to go international. So far I must say it's been quite good and receives my enthusiastic support. Tshern's countrymen have done exceptionally well on their first effort.

I never much cared for Jim Carrey in drama. It seems he gets lots of bad scripts that way. Truman was good, though.

Saw the midnight screening of District 9. I really did enjoy it, it's the best sci-fi kind of movie I've seen in a good while. Probably the best movie I'll see this summer, unless Inglorious Basterds takes that spot.
It beat the hell out of Transformers 2, I'll say that.

i find descriptions of it to fail...
not only were all the production elements great, they call came together and make a very good film.
i do wish that the popcorn and drink hadnt cost 10 bucks... one of each... damn it..

Watched The Host at my sister's suggestion. It's a pretty good movie (more dramatic than frightening though).

I did end up watching Righteous Kill, which I liked. There was this one "poem" in there that was just perfect: The two detectives are questioning a prisoner about a string of murders where the killer leaves behind a poem. These are the two detectives who arrested this prisoner, so understandabely, he hates them. Detective 1: Do you like poetry? Prisoner: Poetry? Detective 2: Yeah, poetry. Prisoner: Sure. Roses are red | Violets are blue | I want to stab your eyes out with my dick, you fucks! Priceless!
