I thought it might be interesting to see what people on these forums were reading...

The Great Hunt (The Wheel of Time, Book 2) by Robert Jordan.
I started reading the series ages ago, but somewhere around book 8 or 9 I was so tired of always having to wait for the next book that I made myself a promise that I would not read another one until the series was over or Robert Jordan died. I really didn't think it would be the latter, but since it was I'm fulfilling my promise and have started reading the series again. I started over so I could reacquaint myself with the characters and events.

My old DM used to rave about Pug (which I thought was a pretty lame name for a wizard) and sent me the books for my birthday. That was last April, and I'm still reading it.... maybe I should get off the computer every now and then.

My old DM used to rave about Pug (which I thought was a pretty lame name for a wizard) and sent me the books for my birthday. That was last April, and I'm still reading it.... maybe I should get off the computer every now and then.
Hahahaha. But seriously, I enjoyed that book. One of the few books worth buying a hardcover, imo. I currently gave the first volume of the Belgariad (which I love) to Bobismyrhino, so she should be reading that now. I'm currently engrossed in absorbing all the information from the Burning Wheel books. |

I am actually reading a bunch of stuff right.
At work I have Heart of Darkness that I have already read four times, but I never get bored of it. Joseph Conrad's best book and one of the best in the world.
Here at home I am going through a bunch of comics I bought a few days ago. I think I've got some 700 pages of X-men to go.
Whenever I have my backbag with me (every time I go to work that is) I have something to read with me. At the moment Sandra Cisneros The House on Mango Street. I've read the English version and I want to know how good the Finnish translation is and so far it is quite good.
Yeah, I need to buy some more books and I intend to do that some time this week. No new books to read, I've finished even all the stuff I got for Christmas.

I do hope she enjoys the books. I enjoyed the Riftwar Saga as well...there are really so many books I would love to go back and revisit. |

I'm re-reading The Restaurant at the End of the Universe (Douglas Adams). Nice.
Eddings is "light and fun" - maybe I'll re-read pieces of the Belgariad later on. It's his best work IMO - everything else feels a bit repetitive once you've read it.
I like the Riftwar Saga too. And Dune Messiah, but it's not the best of the series either.
Soon I'll buy and read Watchmen - which I've first heard about 'round here.

Variable Star by Robert A Heinlein and Spider Robinson (2 of the best authors in this universe).
A Year of Living Biblically by A.J. Jacobs (about a fella who tries to follow ALL of the rules and commandments).
Collapse by Jared Diamond (about societal collapses in history and modern times).
Zoe's Tale by John Scalzi (a stand alone novel set in the Old Man's War universe - good stuff!).

As if I didn't have enough catch up with all my Eberron RPG books (in addition to any other RPG book I've been planning for years to "read from cover to cover someday"), I picked up a number of RPG Books at Gen Con. I got Reign of Steel for Gurps as well as some Gurps Horror books. (To suppliment my Heroes of Horror book! Which I suppose I should read first....)
And I got a few novels as well. I think the first I'll take on is Annotated Elminster.
