I'm currently stalled on "A Cook's Tour" by Anthony Bourdain, which he wrote while filming No Reservations, it's kind of a literary behind the scenes of that show.

I'm also currently reading the Harry Potter books, I'd previously only read Goblet of Fire and Philosopher's Stone (in that order, sadly), so now I'm going through and reading the whole series in order.

"Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" by Jane Austin and Seth Grahame-Smith.

If only I could have read this version in high school instead.

"Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" by Jane Austin and Seth Grahame-Smith.

I've been recommended this book by so many different sources that I have to add it to my list of things to read.

Finished Nineteen Eighty-Four a few days ago. Hadn't read it in English yet. Currently reading Kafka's Der Prozess and Achebe's Things fall apart.

I didn't care for 1984.  The message was excellent, but the delivery was underwhelming.  How's "Things Fall Apart"?  I've seen it on shelves but never read it.

The Paradise War by Stephen Lawhead. It's a bit slow to go anywhere so far I'm half way through, but we'll see I suppose

I haven't read those ones, but I tried to read the Pendragon Cycle and couldn't get into it, I might try again at some point.

It's been a while since I posted I think... I've read:
- the Mistborn trilogy by Sanderson. The first book is fantastic, but unfortunately it's downhill from there.

- Dead Beat by Jim Butcher (a Harry Dresden book). Very nice - much better than Storm Front, the only other HD book I've read.

- Blood of Elves by Sapkowski. There was a positive buzz about it and it won an award so I wanted to see what it was all about. It's pretty good but the end leaves a taste of unfinished business... I'm guessing it's to get people to buy the sequel(s). :-/

- Jhegaala by Steven Brust. Pretty nice.

I'm reading the Black Company by Glen Cook.

"Just what do you think the moon up in the sky is? Everyone sees that big, round shiny thing and thinks there must be something round up there, right? That's just silly. The truth is much more awesome than that. You can almost never see the real Moon, and its appearance is death to humans. You can only see the Moon when it's reflected in things. And the things it reflects in, like water or glass, can all be broken, right? Since the moon you see in the sky is just being reflected in the heavens, if you tear open the heavens it's easy to break it~"

Finished Things fall apart today. It was very good, I enjoyed it. The language is quite simple, but colourful, suits the characters very well and the message is carried out decently. A lovely book to read when you can't concentrate exclusively on reading for hours. I actually read it at work during my two eight hour shifts...
