I listen to a lot of metal, and it seems like several songs are ripe for ganking for D&D. For example, anyone read Elder Evils? In the Leviathan chapter, when you interrupt the cultist's ceremony, I can't help but think it would be awesome to play Dethklok's Go Into the Water to represent the ceremony. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yyw0xeOwVd0And after reading the translated lyrics for Ramund hin Unge, I decided that my next character will be based off that song. (The version I heard was performed by Tyr, but I've been told it's actually an old danish saga, which is awesome.) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yO9acVrtHLMRamund var sig en bedre mand om han havde bedre klæder Dronningen gav hannem klæder på stand af blågarn, bast og læder “Sådant vil jeg ikke ha,” sagde Ramund.
Translation:
“Raymond was a better man if he was better clad” The queen gave him fine clothes of blueyarn, bast and leather “I do not want such,” said Raymond “It does not suit me,” said the yound Raymond
Raymond walked along the salty beach There he saw seven giants standing “I will take Raymond on my smallest hand. And throw him far offshore” “You will not do that alone,” said Raymond “You must come all seven of you,” said the young Raymond
Raymond took his dear sword The one he called the red Dimling He hew the seven giants simultaneously So that they bled to death “There they lie, all seven of them,” said Raymond “And I still stand here,” said the young Raymond
The Emperor looked out the window In fright and with a sad face “Who is that man that stands in the yard and laughs so terribly” “It is I, and I would like,” said Raymond “To challenge you to fight,” said the young Raymond
Raymond took his large knife The one he called the dear Dimling He took the Emperor’s Life So that the head flew fifteen miles “I thought it was blunt,” said Raymond “And yet the blood flows,” said the yound Raymond Also, I've found that metal lends itself to D&D more than other music types.

I find that one finds a lot of one's own music appropriate for one's hobbies.

Why not share your music and how it's appropriate for D&D then?

I find that one finds a lot of one's own music appropriate for one's hobbies. I like Tarot and Japanese music but I seldom entwine them. That said, Heavy Metal is just one of my many inspirations for D&D, as well as RPGs in general. Both classical and Japanese music fit in pretty well for me, with subgenres spread wide across the board. Also, few things are as awesome as finding songs with lyrics appropriate to the situation. It's like going up against cultists with Iron Maiden's Number of the Beast playing; you can't go wrong. Incidentally, I've been to one of their concerts. If God plays Heavy Metal, their live performance is the result.

That's not true. If you ever come to play Persona 3 or the upcoming Persona 4, you will see that those two can be used together with success Back on topic.... I still have to DM a game, but when I do, I'm sure I will use some rock as well as instrumental stuff... and this is going to be used for the epic BBEGs...

Good music, but I'm not sure how many situations it could be applied to: From Super Paper Mario... (spoilers!) Basically, "The Ultimate Show" is awesome, but it just needs to be heard in context. I made a list a while back of good music to play in an Age of Worms campaign for my players - I'll post it later.

My workDeviantArtCurrent gamesThe tier system in a nutshell: Tier 6: A cartographer. Tier 5: An expert cartographer or a decent marksman. Tier 4: An expert marksman. Tier 3: An expert marksman, cartographer and chef who can tie strong knots and is trained in hostage negotiation or a marksman so good he can shoot down every bullet fired by a minigun while armed with a rusted single-shot pistol that veers to the left. Tier 2: Someone with teleportation, mind control, time manipulation, intangibility, the ability to turn into an exact duplicate of anything, or the ability to see into the future with perfect accuracy. But I said that I don't mix those.

I tend to have music like E.S. Posthumus or Clint Mansell's Requiem for a Dream playing in the background when playing DnD. I find it fits fairly well.

And mine is the Devil....Back on topic... Here's what I was thinking for Age of Worms Prime, Fire Emblem's tracks are great!! As well as the FFTA one (it's the Llednar battle near the end of the game, right?)... but I think Under the Stars would be a better fit instead of the FFTA one...
