Bunko's Bargain Basement details the ability to cast Continual Flame on it and have unlimited light forever, but surely we can do better?

Silence and Darkness both make formidable additions to a projectile.  While the norm is to use a pebble that's sitting around, that often takes an action to pick up said pebble.  Not so with an Ioun Stone, you can snare it as a non-action and ask for a sensible ruling that casting a touch spell on it and pitching it can be done with the same standard action (just like casting a touch spell and making a touch attack with it are the same standard action).

Niice ... with a hint of peekaboo

I vaguely recall an Alchemical glue - of some sort.

EDIT --- Sovereign Glue (maybe).

... Grab the last lingering power point in it, because someone might as well point out the obvious.

Write your grocery list on it.

I am constantly amazed by how many DM's ban Tomb of Battle.  The book doesn't even exist!

Take naps underneath a gear assembly, letting the stone's rotation spin a gear. Infinite power! Problem physics?

D&D is basically the universe where all those situations actually do work. Hence magic.

True, but I think this one might be cheaper than any other form of infinite energy to date, depending on the potential power output of an ioun stone. Which we could probably calculate if we cared enough. Come to think of it, I think I do. Excuse me for a while.

I had a character with Regen, I would carry around these stones and tell people they granted slow regeneration. Then I would pop it above me and dimonstrate for them.

Needless to say I made alot of cash... but it back fired on me when another PC was like "whoa really? i want one". So I sold him one and later we got in a fight when I told him all sales were final  Laugh

Question, is there a DC listed anywhere for pulling an Ioun Stone out of orbit against it's owner's will? I kind of need one.

It's necessary for calculating the maximum force the stone can exert.

I don't think you are going to get much force off of an object that lazily coasts around someone's head. Just stick with the Warforged on a treadmill. Or a Spellwarped creature owned by someone with a ring of Magic Missiles.

Here ->

"You can use a disarm action to snatch an item worn by the target. If you want to have the item in your hand, the disarm must be made as an unarmed attack.

If the item is poorly secured or otherwise easy to snatch or cut away the attacker gets a +4 bonus. Unlike on a normal disarm attempt, failing the attempt doesn’t allow the defender to attempt to disarm you. This otherwise functions identically to a disarm attempt, as noted above."

Oh, heck, I had a whole list at one point.

Paint them to make them look like other types of Ioun Stones, thereby getting enemies to waste actions grabbing them.

Use them as a proximity alert for AMF.  Your stone's going to hit it before you do; if it suddenly falls to the ground, stop.

Use them as a target for long-duration illusion spells.  Having miniature pirate galleons and dragons zipping around your head may not be very practical, but it's just cool.

grey ioun stones + minor illusion = emoticons.

carve a unique glyph on it with a detect scrying effect tied to it in some fashion. it emits a song and/or lights up when it detects scrying... you have just created half of a cellphone.

use a bunch for a game of aerial marbles. two persons have half circling each of their heads, you try to knock the most out of orbit, and get to keep any so dislodged. penalty for hitting the opponent in the head.

you have each one targeted by a light spell of a different color. then you can do various rainbow things.

if you attach something large enough to it, you can put a magic mouth on it. multiply and have each one react to something different... nice early warning system.

build a fake beholder eye around it, complete with funky headdress making you look like a beholder-kin.

depending on how much weight they support (which can always be magically enhanced) depend cup holders with variety of beverages of choice.

great at sports games if you attach foam implements to them.

hang wind chimes from them for constant stream of soothing/irritating semi-random sounds.

.... ^^

Put positive and negative charges on some, then assemble them like an atom of your choice.  Do experiments on them to see if heavier atoms break apart.
