So... I am wondering what y'all think about exchanging granted domains for domain feats. After taking the domain feat in place of access to the domain would one still be considered as having that domain for purposes of requirements for a prestige class.

Example:
Requirements for Dweomerkeeper:
Skills: Knowledge (arcana) 8 ranks, Spellcraft 8 ranks.
Feats: Any item creation feat and any metamagic feat.
Spells: Ability to cast arcane and divine spells.
Domain: Magic

So lets say a Level 8 Archivist, with the Magical Training feat, takes a 1 level dip into Cloistered Cleric of Boccob and in place of taking the magic domain takes the Magic Devotion feat.
Would this character still qualify for Dweomerkeeper on the next level-up?

No, he would not. CC even says you lose access to the domain entirely.

Thanks. Strictly running with the rules I guess the character would not qualify.

In my mind however, if one gained access to domain feat by actually and having had a access to the domain and didn't just pick the feat up in the normal fashion then the requirements are in the region of being met.

I am curious how many DM's would play loose with the requirements and let this one through?

I wouldn't, and I'm pretty liberal. Clerics don't need any more buffs...

A couple of water benders, a dike, a flaming arrow, and a few barrels of blasting jelly?

Sounds like the makings of a gay porn film.
...thanks

Case by case, I might let a Devotion feat stand in stead for a domain if it fits better with the character concept. Dweomerkeeper is a +2 prestige class, so I would probably side with PhaedrusXY here - if you drop all the rules, the game is no longer fun. I would be more likely to consider something like letting a Favored Soul enter Sapphire Hierarch using Law Devotion (either from a dip or from the feat). The fluff for that PrC (dangerous, I know) is about opposing the forces of chaos, so an alternative means of representing devotion to this ideal makes sense.
