Encounter 18 v2Setup:You're heading through the woods to check out rumors of a cult. You get to a clearing with a farm. You see two farmers standing near the barn holding tools. As you approach, you realize that the "tool"s are, in fact, serrated glaives, and the "farmers" have green skin and tails! Initiative rolls:Modified Initiative:MapRound 1!Monster 2 points at you and says something unintelligible to the other, grabs his glaive in both hands and disappears. In an instant, he appears right in front of you with an audible pop! He is standing in R 32, ten feet away from Grizz and Thordon. Upon closer inspection, his eyes are red and beard is bristly to the point of looking sharp. You smell the distinct odor of sulfur. Ixen! You're up!

Sorry! Didn't realize this had updated til just now. Thorden takes a 5 ft step to T35, trying to identify the creatures and their sudden teleportation. Knowledge (Arcane): 12 Knowledge (The Planes): 6 Natural 1 Knowledge (Dungeoneering): 14Hmmm..... well, screw that then... As a standard action, use Hail of Stone on Monster 1, activating my Bracers of Entangling Blast (damage halved, creature entangled no save for 1d3 rounds), for 5d6/2: 19/2: 9 damage, Entangled for 3 rounds[/b], -1 charge on bracers.

The monster attempts to dodge the stones -> d20 + 7 = 8, and fails. It becomes entangled by the stones.

(Serias, do you want to move that far? You're within reach of the glaive.)
Does Icelance allow Spell Resistance (AFB)?

Serias takes a five-foot step to R 37, and attempts to overcome the creature's spell resistance -> d20 + 6 = 24, and succeeds. The ice lance strikes the monster, who seems to resist the ice slightly. It attempts to resist the stun -> d20 + 8 = 23, and succeeds.

Grizz doesn't know what these things are, but he sure doesn't like the look of 'em! He attempts to use his newly-studied maneuver to hit and disarm the creature.

The attack strikes true, although the creature's hide seems to absorb a small portion of the blow. Grizz's weapon locks with the creature's and it attempts to hold on -> d20 + 9 = 15, and it drops it's glaive!

Since this creature has some obvious resistances Aepa decides to try out a spell he hasn't had opportunity for yet. First I want to see what Aepa knows (pretty sure I know what it is): Kn(Planes) (1d20+3=6) Aepa apparently does not. Resonating Bolt (targeting the one at R32 for clear LoS): SR;Sonic (1d20+6=26, 6d4=19) in this case thunder before lightning I'll take my remaining move action to ready my bow just in case I need it.

(Assuming the spell is a Fort save)The monster attempts to resist the thunder -> d20 + 8 = 23, and it takes half damage. It appears to be quite bloodied. Round 2!Initiative reminder:MapMonster 2 looks panicked at what has happened and teleports out with his staff. The rubble clinging to him falls to the ground. Ixen! You're up!

Does monster 2's teleport constitute casting an SLA? If so, my Mage Slayer feat prevents it from trying to cast defensively to avoid an AoO. Did he take a 5-ft step first to avoid this? It's not mentioned specifically, but then you probably also didn't notice my feat.

The feat gives knowledge to the caster that they can't (if I recall correctly), so it probably shouldn't matter, other than giving him a heads up.

Yeah, I guess I'm just looking for confirmation for completion's sake. I'm hoping I eventually get to make an AoO from using the feat, because my character sure hates evil spellcasters (I'm supposing, since I gave him the feat, and fluff doesn't matter in these encounters)

I wondered, but when I saw how high he rolled, I realized he'd make it with Ref, too. Does monster 2's teleport constitute casting an SLA? Good point. I actually did that wrong in my description (about the rubble falling). The 1st monster was entangled by Thorden, not the 2nd. So the 2nd would have been able to five-foot step first. The first monster, however, is stuck in place. So the first one is disarmed and entangled... and he's up. Looking panicked, the monster attempts to teleport out, even leaving its glaive behind. Grizz, you can make an AoO.

Grizz sees the creature fumbling as it attempts to teleport out, and jabs with his guisarme.
