Watching the World Burn in Magnificence

After breakfast, Brone had gone out behind the inn to practice with his sword. Any watching his style might be unsure at first if he'd had any formal training; his style is rough and violent, and not at all like the dueling styles that are so often employed by those who carry his slender sort of blade. But those with a good eye notice he leaves few openings, and his style is rough because it is a style for an arming blade, a war blade with a similar thrusting purpose. After an hour, Brone drinks water and seems to just enjoy the air and the sounds of the town. After that, he practices for another hour before heading back in, taking an early lunch, and sleeping for three hours or so. Once he rises, he comes back down, makes a pass at the wench from the night before, and orders a dinner of meat and bread again. The whole day, though, he seems to have gone without excessive alcohol...

@Tork
Nobody follows you out, and the mercenaries from the night before don't seem particularly interested in you as you have breakfast.

@Beorn
Your rolls lead you directly to the temples in question.  After a quick thought you remember that the god of the temple building is Dala, Shield of the Weak.  They have an order of paladins whose role is to root out evil.  You know that they will have a service in the mornings as the sun rises, and that the other temples you have visited that follow Dala have always allowed the less fortunate a space on the floor to sleep during the night.

The temple dedicated to nature is in fact a grove.  The goddess worshiped is Silban the Earthmother.  This order has few rites, mostly festivals to celebrate the harvests, and to dedicate the fields for planting.  As the town of Crydee has a large number of farmers this faith is likely to have quite a following.  They will have a once a week service that happens every six days at the end of the work week.  Restday is two days from today.

As you walk out you hear in a very low whisper the mercenaries say:  I think that group means to go to the moathouse tonight.  We might want to get there first, what do you say Zert?

@Bobbyknock
You and the Raven don't notice anything suspicious during breakfast.  As you wander around you come upon a very large general store that seems to house all manner of different items including animals.  During your travels you do not notice a magic shop, bookstore, or any other shop dedicated to alchemy.

@Mialgru
You are able to easily catch some fish.  After searching a bit for a trader, you find a fish market at the docks.  They don't have smoked or dried meat, but they will trade you a few coppers a pound for the fish that you caught.  Roll 4d6 for the number of pounds, @ 3 coppers per pound.  As you are flying in search of food you manage to spot the moathouse.  Later you spot the shantytown described in one of the reports, and then a huge blotch on the land with a palpable sense of evil reaching even you high in the sky.  You don't see anyone at the moathouse or the temple, but the shantytown seems to be bustling with activity and new buildings.

Mialgru really isn't doing it for the money, he just wants to get some lasting rations, and trade them for just about any long lasting food he can find in the village.

After having scouted the nearby areas he heads back to the inn shaped as Mikkel. Goes to his brothers room of him some of the left-over fish and tells him in draconic:
We should probably inform the others, I've seen a shanty town further up the way we are supposed to go and it seems bustling with activity, I seem to recall we found a report about this town, but I cannot remember the details, can you?

His dreamy nap full of dragon breaths and incredible adventures is suddenly interrupted by the arrival of his brother so, trying to look, and to be, as awake as possible, listens to what the scaly old friend says and then, after a sigh and some thinking answers in the language of dragons.

I wasn't really that interested when you were doing research in the library so I don't know anything about this town you're speaking of. Should be almost time for our departure though, so I guess we could start rounding up the others so we can finally leave.

If it's not too late to retrace some past actions in the light of what I heard, Beorn will wait outside the inn before heading out to the temples until Mialgru comes out and tell him about what the mercenaries are planning.

Mialgru will off course share the news with anyone he finds from his part in the Inn. And will not attempt to wake Mizar, but just go around town looking for someone to ask where the others are if he finds nobody awake to talk to.

If he doesn't find anyone relatively quickly, he will fly around the town in the shape of an Ibis looking for them, land on their shoulder and tell them the news. Basically he will attempt to get the message around to the party that the shanty-town is bustling with life.

Mialgru you are able to track down your team relatively quickly as they are just wandering about town or still at the Inn and the town is not particularly large.

As Mialgru catches him as he is leaving the Inn Jax helps follows him/helps him share the new information with the rest of the group.
Assumes speaking with everyone
"If they are simply are simply racing to the moathouse for adventure and gain I'm not sure that would rush me unless there is cause by our contracts for us to get there first.  I suspect it is the adventure and riches which has them wanting to beat us there.  But as their purpose could well be more sinister it would probably be best for us to head out sooner.  Of course we could just confront them and tell them stay away as we are inspecting the place under the authority of the Duke. "That seems fine; if they resist the duke's wishes, we could always enforce the law as is necessary." Brone gives a wicked smile at that, and rushes upstairs to collect the last of his things. He'd been ready to go for some time, after making a quick stop for some supplies after his nap. "I'm ready to get there, soon as we've accumulated the whole of the group. Or before, if you'd care for a scout."

Mizar nods silently as Jax speaks, clearly agreeing with his companion's plan.

I'm ready too whenever you want to leave and I guess we should gather the others. Time to stop scouting and go in for some real action.

Sure brother, I'll fly there and wait outside in the form of an Ibis to record any entrance or exit, can you guys find the group and come in a few hours?

Tork has his backpack on and is ready to go.  If the party wants to go to shantytown to find out what the activity is then he will go there with the party or just head out then thats ok.

After we get out of town and a few miles down the road he turns on his Senses Aura to give every party member within 30 feet of Tork a +1 to listen, spot and initiative rolls.

@Beorn
You know almost nothing about the shanty town.  It was named Nulb when the temple rose before, and is basically the home of bandits and smugglers as well as more insidious criminals.  Merchants tend to go as far as they can around it, so reports about the town itself are not very up to date as the folk of Crydee avoid the area at all costs.

After some discussion amongst his companions, "Very well, I shall go inform Ruko and his companions to stay away from the Moathouse as we are inspecting it under the Duke's authority.  I'll point out that if we see them there we will assume it is for mischief."

Looking about his gathered companions, "Any objections?"

If there are no objections Jax will head back inside and inform Ruko and his companions of the situation.

Don't go looking for snakes, you might find them.

He too would follow Mialgru back to the others, having gotten a good feel for the town and noting where the large general store was. He was rather disappointed that there were no arcane or magical lore shops to be found.

Once back with the rest of the group he'd simply listen to what each had to say, considering their points a bit before speaking.

" I do not care when we leave, while the cover of darkness would be nice, it's not essintial. I am ready to go at any time. We should at least take a look at the shanty town, gather a bit of information about it. If it doesn't seem to be linked to the Moathouse, then there's no reason to bother with it."

Sure, go ahead. That's fine by me. Beorn replies to Jax. After he comes back to the table, he proceeds to explain his plan I say we go right away, visit the shanty town first, maybe we can find out something interesting there, then approach the moathouse at night. What do you think?

I do not know the land.  How fare away is this shantytown and the moathouse away from here?  If the moathouse is closer then the shantytown then let's go to the moathouse.

After thinking about it for the moment

The Duke hired us to investigate the moathouse not the shantytown that might be our second task he has for us.  The Duke maybe testing us first with the moathouse before giving us the task to investigate the shantytown.  I first did not care which place we investigated but now I beleave we need to go to the moathouse.  Let's head out like we going to shantytown but circle around and go to the moathouse so if someone is watch us they will not know where we are going.  This may avoid a ambush.

"I find myself in agreement with Tork but I am willing to go to either first.  Figure it out while I go warn Ruko and his away from the Moathouse."

With that Jax moves to Ruko and his companions table inside the Inn. "Good morn Ruko.  I believe you will not be happy with what I am about to tell you but hope you will listen and be mindful.  On the Duke's authority you and your companions are to steer clear of the moathouse.  If we find you and your companions there while we are investigating we will assume you intend mischief.  Am I clear?"
