There was a similar thread on BG's Min/Max board about obvious things 3.5 is missing.

I'm curious what you'd most want to be able to do by the rules, however obvious.

1: Classes with class features so valuable that I want to take that class at every level.  Artificer and Druid are good examples of this.

Hood - My first answer to all your build questions; past, present, and future.

Speaking of which:
Don't even need TO for this.  Any decent Hood build, especially one with Celerity, one-rounds [Azathoth, the most powerful greater deity from d20 Cthulu].
Does it bug anyone else that we've reached the point where characters who can obliterate a greater deity in one round are considered "decent?"

I'm inclined to disagree. People work hard on there characters, there personality, back ground, appearance, so forth. No one wants there character that they have invested time, energy, thought, and probably emotion in to be killed because they didn't take strong enough feats or skills or spells or what have you.

Hey! I like spouting lies. It's very entertaining to observe how people on the internet are buffing their small egos by declaring victories over some stupid MBFs. Smirk

That would be good.

4) Diplomacy (and other social combat rules) that work.

5) A better explained way for adjudicating illusions.

6) A skill system that kept skills interesting and viable past low levels, and that didn't work on ranks, so everyone could be on the RNG at all levels.

Combat more in line with fictional motifs, rather than ending in under half a minute, with everyone using their finishing moves in the opening round Too tall an order, just reduce rocket tag.

8) Be badass without relying on a magic-type system.

Eeerr, that's already doable. Even a straight up medium-high level fighter can fall out of mountains, swim in lava and cut tanks in half while eating bullets for breakfast.

People tend to forget that it isn't like melee is nerfed in D&D, it's simply that magic is very grossly overpowered. Pretty much any "badass" character from any other seting would be curbstomped by a D&D caster, short of reality warpers like TTGL that can throw galaxies as shurikens. And even then it would be a stalemate.

10) Lift a house with a (non-epic) spell.
Oh please that's an easy one. Animate objects with CL 16 for a gargantuan-sized house and then give it a fly buff. Wink

She takes 4 rounds (24 sec) to cast it, and then says it is the strongest spell of all Black Magic. A sure kill for great wyrm dragons. That's epic magic right there.

Also hadn't you just claimed a few posts ago that you didn't like rocket tag?

Alternatively, Apocalypse from the Skies, wich clearly says it can level down forests and tople mountains.

12) Play a competent dual-wielder that doesn't involve rogue levels.

I know there're maneuvers and PrCs for this, but while I'm spending my character options to become a decent dual-wielder, Greatsword Guy is spending his options to become awesome.

As it happens, there is a d20 conversion for Slayers by Guardians of Order.  According to that book, the Dragon Slave is (effectively) a 9th level spell: long range, 100 ft spread, 2d6 damage per caster level (explicitly no cap), Fort for half damage. Boom.
