Does Hide in Plain Sight work with the Darkstalker feat if you have it from a template ( Dark Creature ) and not from a class feature?
Darkstalker says " When you hide, creatures with blindsense, blindsight, scent, or tremorsense must make a Listen check or a Spot check (whichever DC is higher) to notice you, just as sighted creatures would make Spot checks to detect you. You cannot hide in plain sight unless you have that ability as a class feature. In addition, you can fl ank creatures that have the all-around vision special quality ".

As a DM how would you handle this?

Thanks for the help.

I'm pretty sure having Darkstalker doesn't negate your ability to hide in plain sight if you get it from a template.

I don't see an issue here. Darkstalker negates certain forms of detecting a hidden character. How, how well, and under what circumstances the character may use the Hide skill is totally unconnected with that. Hide in Plain Sight and Darkstalker have nothing to do with each other mechanically (although both affect the way hiding functions for you) and function independently - regardless of what source you gain them from.

The way the feat should probably be phrased, is 'This feat does not give you the ability to hide in plain sight', or something like that.

By RAW, it would prevent HiPS.  But RAI clearly just means it doesn't grant the ability, so unless you want to get back at rules-lawyering players without using Rule 0, I'd allow it.
