Yes, I know that D&D already has turns, but was thinking of a more "What do you do" game. For example: DM: You see 3 zombies approaching. There is no obvoius exists from the room. What do you do? Rogue: I try to hide in the shadows and hope they wont see me. Barbarian: I charge the closest one while raging. Wizard: I cast fireball on the left zombie.
The DM then rolls the initiative to see who goes first. The wizard is first so his fireball blasts the zombies. The rogue is next and attempts to hide (dont ask why). The zombies are next and they decide to continue towards the party. but the barbarians charge disemboweld the first zombie. His cleave hits the second one which almost drops to the ground. What do you do next ? As you can see, this was a simple description, without using roleplay. Roleplaying is optional. Initiative is rolled every round to see how different actions interact with each other. Lets say, starting level 1, maximum starting gold for your class, LA 0 (so we would have a more simple system), 1 trait and flaw maximum, no level 5 optimisation (I cast a spell and everyone dies, I win), no MM2, BoED/BoVD (not too familiar with those so...yeah). The rest is free game (just dont buy a cart pulled by horses and try to squeeze it into a dungeon, it happened once and dont want it to happen again...). Anyone interested ?

I'm interested. I've wondered how this variant works and would like to give it a shot. I'll likely wait for others to pick something so I match optimization level/tier level, if that's cool.

I'll give it a go. What kind of material/simplifications are we looking at using?

Like Robo-rally, but D&D...but Level 1...it takes more than mechanics to get me to play a level 1 game. What's the fluff? I need big juicy fluff to keep me interested until I hit prestige class levels.

I'm interested as well. An OOTS-like party seems fun. How are we doing stats? 32 point buy?

Lol, that's funny Let's make it order of the stick style I mean the roleplaying aspect. We have our roleplaying sorted out then . A world in which te inhabitants are aware of the rules and even comment on them I'll give it a go. What kind of material/simplifications are we looking at using?
Well, I will roll the dice to smooth things along, you just need to worry about the equipment, character apperance, backgroud (not really ), and generally staying alive. I'm interested as well. An OOTS-like party seems fun. How are we doing stats? 32 point buy?
Yup. It is the most popular Like Robo-rally, but D&D...but Level 1...it takes more than mechanics to get me to play a level 1 game. What's the fluff? I need big juicy fluff to keep me interested until I hit prestige class levels.
I guess that starting in a tavern is out of the question . Will have to think about fluff...

This could be fun, but I'm gonna wait to see how it starts to shape up. On the upside, it's nice and light. I may put together an utterly un-optimized character just to see what happens. Maybe a Fighter 20...
EDIT: I have just the thing. Nolan Casketbait, aka "Dolorous Nole." This disillusioned ex-palace guard has decided to set forth on a voyage against great danger and impossible odds, in order to die a highly-publicized death and warn off future adventurers from pursuing the foolhardy path of the Fighter 20.
For personality, picture Ted from Scrubs, only angrier.

I have the perfect idea. Why put you guys on a rail(road) when you can decide what is your goal/mission/quest/whatever. You can say that your life's goal is to drink every kind of ale that has been brewn upon the face of the earth (and go through serios trouble to find exotic kinds, even ancient brews guarded by an epic Awakened zombie commoner brewmaster and his skeletal apprentices). Knock yourselves out

Pfft, we all know that Use Magic Device is where it's at. Don't ask me how that Candle of Invocation comes into play though. I try to keep my level of optimization subdued so I don't get hit with the banhammer.
