Tivus nods at Ivarlan then moves back to the group to tell Shimala "It’s not good to be removing your armor before a battle. Depending on the situation we might have to move hard and fast. The enemy might be to great and hasty retreat might be in order. I want to see everybody come back from this hunt alive either wear the armor or not wear the armor, your choice.

The Tivus turns back toward the direction Ivarlan went and moves to his right flank a little further back to give him time to spot the enemy.

Ivarlan how fare ahead do you want to be and I will keep that pace from you.

Tivus moves a lot because of he is a scout and he believes not everybody is coming back alive because the group talks to much on a hunt and wow, there is a person that is actually removing there armor just before a possable battle./i]

My spell checker did not catch it and someone at work distracted me.  Thank you.

Kim is harsh whispering tone There was a problem with the armor. It is dealt with now, so leave her alone about it.

Kim sees that Shimala is beating herself up over this already and doesn't want the boys making it worse.

a side note for Mandoor i think you meant wear not ware.

Shimala means to call the spirits to our aid hunter Tivus.  Snow Fox says we do good to let her call her spirits before we move on.  We can spare the few minutes before we begin our stalking game.  Watch with Ivarlan and come for the spirit call when Shimala is ready.

Snow Fox is Tosc's spirit guide and the being he often seems to be interacting with that others do not percieve.

Ok, I will watch for Shimala signal and come when she is ready

When Tivus gets the signal from Shimala, he will signal Ivarlan and Arcos on the left flank.  If Ivarlan or Arcos does not see the signal Tivus will get his attention with a little whistle and to signal them to come to Shimala for the blessing then return to the hunt in the standard formation.

Kneeling down swiftly, Shimala begings to to incant softly.
"Blessed be thee, The Morrigan. Lady of Battle, Goddess of War. As your humble servant, I beseech thee, bless us in thy name. Let our aim be true, so that victory will be ours. Let our hearts swell with resolve, so that we may face our battle with fortitude and courage. Luck favours the prepared."
She rises, pulling on her armor once again. She looks at Tivus and speaks with a low voice:
"I know very well how stupid it is to remove ones armor before a fight, but my ladys blessing might not have succeded otherwise and I want every advantage we can get. I usually do this early morning, but forgot it for once. It will not happen again, I assure you."

Well, at least I know these are good people now. That means I need to make sure this doesn't happen again. No one dies on my watch.

This feeling... It was lifting his spirits... After Shimala's blessing, the group continued onwards with a lighter heart.

Claude hid a smile. A few people were already acting as if this were a team. Well, it was, anyway. He hated to say it, but one could learn a lot about the others from only watching their interactions. He knew he shouldn't judge others without interacting with them personally, but he could sense friendships and conflicts... A worried thought flashed through his mind. "I hope they don't dislike me..."

As for Ivarland..., it appeared the man was taking the position of leader. He was a natural choice though, having hunted before. The others respected him too, which lent credence to his abilities. Claude prayed that the man would lead them well. But as they delved deeper into the woods, he couldn't help but feel something ominous lurking ahead...

Ohhoe!! Tosc says as he feels the Blessing fall upon him barely suppressing his excitement at watching another call upon spirits.  This blessing of your spirit Morrigan will help our hunt indeed.  The spirit has even calmed the beast of fear fear within me.  Tosc seems genuinely excited by the novel experience.

Ha, he laughs as he shares a smile with all those near, ready to begin the hunt.

Looking to Claude, This is good things.  I look forward to seeing your fire spirits too though I hope not due to troubles.

Ivarlan
The tracks are not that hard to follow. The animal that made them seem to be pretty big and heavy.

Give me a knowledge nature check. DC 15.

Knowledge Nature 15+
They are the tracks of a big ungulate of some sort, maybe a deer or an elk. This one seems alone, so maybe it is sick or old or otherwise impaired.

After the casting a puzzled look crosses Krak face.  Not understanding he readjust the fit of his armor a little and takes a place between the two hunters and the Shaman.  nodding to Tivus and Arvalan when he feels the others are ready to begin "Lets us keep a good pace, and not be caught in a disavantagouse possition.

Knowledge (Nature): 17  Big Grin Beeeeetter, muuuuuuch beeeetter.....

Ivarlan felt a tug at his soul, and suddenly felt... better. It was unnatural, and while pleasant, he felt spiritually molested. It was obviously the work of the priestess, but that only made it more awkward. He hadn't been with... well, ANYONE in quite some time. And this was the first time his soul had any attention. He shook his lead lightly, threw off the awkwardness, and distracted himself examining the tracks.

He slid back to Tivus, though the wolf stayed on the tracks. "It looks like a large elk, but only a single one. We could hunt it. The meat would be good... but I worry about the wolves. It is cold, and they are probably hungry and tracking it's scent. We are a large enough group to possibly deter them, but if they are not wolves... we aren't so lucky. Report this to the rest; I cannot make the decision for them to go after this. I'll stay on point."

As he starts to return to Faolan, he turns back, and says just as quietly, "Thank you for keeping pace. I don't mean to seem pretentious, but the group is large and needed quick direction. I appreciate your presence and expertise." With that, he followed his own markings back to Faolan, and kept watch. If it was not wolves, they were better off not following it. They had two weeks to find meat... but eventually, they would encounter the source of the noises...

I vote that we take the animal. I will go to the group and see what they say.
Tivus heads back to the group.
We found Giant Elk tracks and Ivarlan wants to know should we hunt it. It might be dangerous but the meat might feed the village for awhile.
Tivus watchs Ivarlan really close while he looks at the animal signs because he is planing to take a level of ranger for his next level. This Orc usually never passes up the opportunity to get meat.

(OOC: Did Tivus inform the party that we have the tracks of an elk? Ivarlan seems to want everyone's input on whether we continue on or not. Also, perhaps we should all make Search checks for... edibles. Big Grin)

Arcos keeps his eyes peeled while the hunters talk, and notices a hare's hutch entrance off to his left.

I see game sign, friends.  It may not be plentiful, but a brace of rabbits would still be meat on the table.

Survival: 14. http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2813399/

Not really sure how to describe what I'd find, so I guess someone could take this as a successful Aid Other check.

While he wasn't fully sure of how edible some of these plants were, Claude took note of them for the others to look at later. For now, his attention was grabbed by Tivus. The tall orc had announced that Ivarlan and his wolf had discovered some tracks up ahead. An elk would be a nice prize. There were dangers to be considered, but... "If we can't even handle this, then there wasn't any point of coming at all..." It'd be good practice, anyway. He had little knowledge of hunting, and it would be useful to observe those more well-versed at it. Claude voiced no objections to the plan, nodding with Tivus's evident enthusiasm. After all, what he felt it would be best for the group to stick together.

OOC: Personally, I don't think it's 100% wise to hunt in a group of 10 with half being unskilled hunters. It'd probably be more efficient for us to split up into two groups so that we can cover more ground and have greater success at hunting. But this is Day 1, and everyone's nervous. Which is why Claude would feel this way.

Arcos's discovery of a rabbit nest was encouraging too. The rabbits could be home or out foraging. Either way, they probably shouldn't get too sidetracked. "Perhaps we could leave a trap...?" suggests Claude quietly.

'cause we'll totally come back to check if we caught anything, right? Tongue

If the group decides not hunt big game. It might be wiser we are squshy aka: 1st level. Here is Tivus Survival for foraging for food.

Survival Check:1d20+4=11

Yes, I can setup a trap.

Ivarlan, it will be good to hunt with you again.  Of course, it is just good to hunt.  Let us claim this hooved beast and what else we find along the way.

Survival (1d20+7=25) for foraging.

What's that?  A great find Claude.  That plant works wonders as a seasoning as well as bolster fortitude in the slim days.

Moving over to Acros, rabbit snares indeed.  The cold will preserve them for our return should a predator not claim our bounty.

Throughout the period covered by the forage roll Tosc hunts himself but as often as not he seems to be encouraging others in their hunting skills sharing bits of instructive information quite frequently couched in terms of spirits of the animals and the land.

"You know I probably am not going to be much help in this hunt." Mattrim declared."How does this sound I'll just let you guys go at it and I'll just return to camp! Its not like I could be any use to you guys by say doing what I do best... causing a distraction."

OOC: There is another option. Wolves and any other predators go for week prey. Split into 2 groups 1 with skilled hunters and 1 for bait ( with a able tracker incase of misfortune) stay 1 hour away from each other 1 and carry some sort of signal ( got oil) I would say this but its just not Matts style to call it out
