About
History
The Brilliant Gameologists Podcast started in August 2007, formed by three life-long friends and gaming partners. Like most new podcasts, getting started took more time than expected and many technological snags held up regular releases. However, in April 2008, the show has been on a weekly release schedule and intends to keep to that, usually releasing new shows on Sunday evenings.
What the show is
Brilliant Gameologists–
Sometimes Licentious
Usually controversial
Always Edifying.
A podcast for tabletop games and the people who play them.
Helping you:
Play like you have to
Play like you have to
Play like you have two
The show’s primary focus is on role-playing games, but other tabletop games (and much, much more) are discussed as well.
Shows are broken into 7 categories:
- DM Advice
- Player Advice
- Setting
- System
- Min/Max
- Meta Episodes (about us or the industry)
- Bonus Episodes (when we’re just goofy)
Our alternative track is for Review Episodes where we look at a specific game. Our review rating scale is:
- 1= If you are only going to buy 1 book, get this one.
- 3= If you are going to buy 3 books so you have a “main game” plus a fun pickup, this is the book for you
- 10= If you are going to get 10 books for a bit more variety, get this one
- 0= Don’t buy it
Rating
All shows are marked Explicit and are generally considered Not Work Safe. We don’t hold back, but let the natural conversational format take content where it may go, so the explicitness varies show to show.
Music
The theme music is adapted from3rd Man’s Quicksand in your Boots
The Douchebag of the Week’s music is taken from Vincent Van Go Go’s The Dudes In The Car
Both those and much of the other ambient music used are available from the Podshow’s Podsafe Music Network
